Sounds like a no brainer to me...the new models must be on the horizon! Great place to do business, too.

Went to the Lowrance booth today at the NY boat show. They have changed the screen and software, It is a lot faster with a better screen. I would look at one first. The new model # X-19.

Mumblerome,
Lowrance said they are avalible now. The model # LCX-19C. They also took the glare out of the screen. They also have a LCX-104C that has 10.4" high-definition TFT 256 color screen that was "very impressive," with chart plottor was somewhere around $2200.00. The only thing I wasn't found of Navionics charts, Cmap gives you color shading of contours they don't. I still use the old X-16 paper graph at times, "best" when you want detail.

Technology moves on...I also had the X-16 paper graph. I sold it with the last boat. I have not seen the 'detail' duplicated yet. On the other had you get to spend a lot more money on the newer models. Will take a look at the new monel if they ever get it up on their website...thanks.

..i also was interested in this machine as its specs and price were hard to beat(955$).. blv i talked to bethal marine who turned me off on lowrance because of support issues, not the equipment per se.. i'd like to hear more on lowrance as a company standing behind and servicing equiptment..

Bummer,

I have an LCX-15MT (fish finder only) and have been very happy with the performance. Unfortunately, I had a problem with it this summer and had to return it to the factory for replacement under warranty. Lowrance customer service was great and they had a new unit in my hands in 10 days. Performance has been flawless with the new one. Go to the THT discussion in the link below for details.

I chose a Garmin GPS because I felt the charts and software were far superior to Lowrance.

I've got the x16c. Its a great fish finder and a very good plotter. I would rec using a navioncs map though for better detail and nav info than the Lowrance map. So you might want to factor that into the cost. Still that price is almost half of what I paid.
