new features:
100 bucks cheaper: 20 gig (5000 songs) - $299 40 gig (10,000 songs) - $399
12 hour battery instead of 8 hour
ability to insert/delete music into a playlist without connecting to the computer...
www.apple.com
BTW, ipods work with mac or PC, Sony and Microsoft releasing their players in the fall, that's the reason for the price rollback...guaranteed Sony's unit will be clunky but Gates will probably get it right and knowing his marketing methods will put a price out there that will try to CRUSH Apple - no love lost between Jobs and Gates...

That's nice, but why do we want to know this? FYI there are new computers introduced every week.

lotsa reasons:
corrosion - proof - no head unit to replace (they all go bad sooner or later)
400-800 albums in the size of a pack of cigarettes
security proof - take it with you
hook it up to your home stereo -no more cd's anywhere!
no big hole in dash - velcro it and run the wire to the amp below
recall any song or album in 5 seconds
and now it's 25% cheaper than last week - do a search on this site for mp3...

Glen,
Agree with everything you said except "get rid of the CD's". No way. MP3's cannot compete with the fidelity of CD's on the home system.
If MP3's sound as good to you on the home system, it may be time for an upgrade or a hearing test!

good point - I stand corrected - with a good sound system you can tell inside - but for blasting thru my patio/garage speakers while I wash the boat, they do the job...enjoy

Glen, know where I can find any info on the new MS or Sony machine coming out? Sony might not have the 'coolest' look or interface, but I bet they will have the best sounding unit. Sony is known to have the best sounding walkmans and even PDA's.
