Default Electronics Suggestions

New boat coming in Sept. (23cc) looking for suggestions on electronics. I'm considering Garmin 2010c + sounder and the Raymarine c80. Will add radar at a later date, not sure if I need to overlay radar, leaning toward a seperat unit. Looking for the best value along with ease of use. My last boat had the Lowrance LMS350A which was easy to use. Thanks in advance for your help.

dodmarlin,
Just put 2010c and the dsm-20 fishfinder in HS 24. Love the Garmin. Its very intuitive rarely need to consult the manual. Haven't worked with the FF much yet but should be able to tell you more soon. Bought from THT sponsor byownelectronics.com and was very satisfied by price and service. Almost went with smaller unit but now so glad I didn't, as one can display lots of information on the screen and not have to look twice. The Raymarine had just come out and I wanted tried and true , versus latest, greatest. Raymarine if I remember can get more expensive when you build out the system.

Good Luck,
Greg

I think the Garmin is an incredible chartplotter, and so-so fishfinder. If I were you, I'd buy the same basic components you're talking about, but use the Raymarine for fishfinder and radar. Garmin chartplotters are the best IMO.

If you have the room on the helm, I'm a fan of separate units rather than combos. In my case, I selected the Garmin 2010c GPS/chartplotter, Furuno 600L sounder, Icom 502 VHF with Digital antenna... and when the time comes for radar, I'm going for the Furuno 1933.

Everybody has their favorite setup... This is mine.

Thanks for all the suggestions,I have room on the helm for seperate units. I'll make a decision soon and let you know what I do. I'm still open to more ideas.
