Default Has Anyone used GetFeetWet.com?

Looks like they sell New and Referb products? Prices look good on Referb items. Has anyone used them? If so how were they to deal with. Is there a risk or problem with buying a referb Garmin HD 18 Radar from them? Its about a $300 dollar savings. Is the warranty the same as new?

I've never heard of them but am always weary about purchasing a refurbished product. Somewhere along the lines a problem forced that Garmin radar to be fixed.

Tough on what to decide on Jim. You have the option on purchasing a used item that someone claims nothing is wrong. Or you can go with a prodcut that is now fixed after something already went wrong.

I've always opted to save my money and purchase new products. Especially when it comes to electronics.

I too am curious about the warranty. That would definitely make deciding a whole lot easier.

I bought a Garmin 4008 bundle from them, it was new, not refurbished. Checked prices everywhere and no one came close!

No complaints.

I've used them a couple of time for new Garmin 4210 and GHP10.

Everything supplied as promised.

Default good experience

I have bought from them a couple of times. Very good experience....the refurb products have the exact same warranty as new and you couldn't tell the difference when it shows up. It doesn't look re-packed....just like the new products I bought from them. I have nothing but good things to say, and they beat all the prices I could find.

I bought several Garmin items from them--they were great. Even unbundled a bundle to sell me a 3210 and follow up support was exceptional. Will def buy from them again

how can they have so many refurbs on Radar domes? How can they offer the same warranty on a refurb then new unit? Sounds too good to be true? Is the warranty from Garmin or GetFeetWet?

I have bought new products from Get Feet Wet several times. Good, no problems.

I have bought a bunch of refurbed electronics, both marine and other, but never from Get Feet Wet. In general, if the product is refurbed by (or through) the factory, it will be as good as new and will carry the manufacturer's normal new warranty. This is the case with two Garmin refurbs I bought in the past. They were refurbed by Garmin, had full Garmin warranties and no problems.

Obviously, buying refurb it is always best to ask the vendor these questions in advance (who did the refurb, what are the warranty terms and whose warranty is it -- the manufacturer's, yours, or some middleman?

Refurbs are generally factory refurbs and the warranty is a factory refurb warranty. QC will be the same. Nothing unusual in that.

Sometimes items fail soon after sale. This is especially the case with electronics, ie. they fail early or never. Some manufacturers opt to replace failed item that are in warranty with new to reduce the customers down time.

Some refurbs are done by a non-factory shop via a contract from the factory.

Use "factory" and "manufacturer" interchangeably for the purposes of this post.

Factory refurbs actually come from a lot of sources, not all related to in service failures. Demo units, trade show displays, vendor showroom (west marine, etc) displays, eval units, etc. all make up the population that become factory refurbs (in addition to service failures).

I've had very good luck with factory refurb'd units from a variety of manufacturers. Scratch and dent sales are among my favorite places to look.

The warenty is a Garmin warenty, and Garmin offers the same warenty on factory referbished items as they do on brand new items.

I agree. Plus don't see them beating out BOEmarine.

The search feature works on getfeetwet.com, it's just slow. I've purchased several items, some refurb, some new. No problems, and very helpful on the phone.

Repped for Get Feet Wet. Used them several times as well on some "refurb" gear and could not be happier and still have money to spare. I guess BOE does price matching so may be worth a shot to get from them if you find a lower price elsewhere. Never used BOE but every other person on THT has and seems satisfied.

I bought both my refurbed Raymarine MFD's from Jim @ BOE and have had zero issues for three years. Sometimes they're as simple as a returned product... didn't fit, etc.
If I can find a factory refurb of what I'm looking for with warranty, I'll buy it every time.
