Default garmin 2006c or Lowrance lc x 16ci

OK I before I begin I know tough break for me!
OK I have a new boat with both a garmin 2006c and a lowrance lc x16ci both set for chartplotting of my area. which one is a better deal for the boat? the other going to be sold. Neither is set right now for depth or fish. I have a sitex for that.
Any help from users will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That must be a very large boat to have both.

No question, the Garmin's a better chartplotter. The Bluecharts rock. The Lowrance unit is a fishfinder with a chart system tacked on for good measure, just the opposite with the Garmin.

thanks for the input. Is what you are saying that I should keep the Garmin for charting only and keep the Lowrance for fish? Also I have a sitex is that better than the lowrance?

If you want to get rid of that unreliable garmin 2006, I know a guy thats got $1000.00 to spend and he really needs a chartplotter for inshore use.

Good Luck

If it were my choice, I would sell the Lowrance and the Sitex.

Without a doubt, keep the Garmin for the Chartplotter.

Substitute the SITEXfor a FURUNO FF such as the 582L with a thru hull trans-x. The SITEX sonars are good units, but for features, reliability and peformance I think the FURUNO is better. Also SITEX lists their units as 'weatherproof' which is not the same as 'waterproof'.

You didn't mention which SITEX unit you have but the difference in $$ has to be higher for the FURUNO, but not by much. Take the extra cash and invest it in other items. If you're into redundancy you might look at a a FURUNO NAVNET.

It really depends on how much room you have for electronics. The 16ci is a very capable fishfinder (that's how I am using mine). It's got an occasional quirk, but turning it off and back on always clears things up. I guess the choice between the Sitex and Lowrance would depend on which Sitex you've got.

the boat is a 32 footer sport fisher with a large helm station on the fly bridge, large elect. box in the helm (above) and a second station in the cockpit for remote controls and possibly elect. the boat came with the sitex cvs-106 mkII and the lowrance lx 16 ci I bought the Garmin 2006c not knowing they were giving me the lowrance. So now I have extra stuff and well to be honest ebay is gonna see the extras cause I need an anchor. All the input so far is great and a little more will nail it shut!
thanks

Made for a boat with 2 stations. Get the network sounder and a second diplay unit. You could then keep one diplay on the bridge that would allow you to look at single screen dispay of radar or FF or chartplotter (redundancy). Or, split screens of any combination!

The second display in the cockpit gives you the same functions or even different than those displayed on the bridge. Uses simple and reliable Ethernet networking.

You would be getting the best FF and radar along with a backup chartplotter to the Garmin.

One word of caution. Although the features, performance and reliability are outstanding, it is a little tricky for a user to learn to navigate and program. And the manual leaves something to be desired!
