Default HELP....Fused Link ?

Kinda long so please hang with me. Was gonna take the boat to the lake today just to run it but when I got in it neither VHF worked. Tracked it down to corrroded wires so being I was there and it was pretty I decided to run new to both. When I started this all the other things worked, bilge pumps, lights, horn...
Some how I messed something up because now nothing controlled by the dash switches works, none of the breakers seem out ( I tried reseting them anyway ) I thought I may have knocked loose he main feed from the batterys but can't find anything loose. The motor will still start or at least it would before I "fixed " the final thing for the day..... Coming out of the bottom of my Perko battery switch there is a heavy ( 8 guage ? ) wire with what I thought was a fuse holder, when I pulled it apart it looked like a glass fuse came out in pieces except both ends stayed in the holder. This "holder" is about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch around. Is this really a fused link? Can it be replaced? In other words how bad did Mr. Fix it screw up? Oh, any thoughts on my other problem would be appreciated greatly.
Thanks, David
