Default 582L wiring?

The power cable for the 582L is shielded and has a positive and negative wire. The plug has 3 connections in it. The instructions mention connecting the shielding to something but it wasn't real clear. Where does the shielding connect to?
Thanks, Cat

The shielding goes to ground, but unless you have a problem don't worry about it - especially if you're mounting it on the 16 ft boat shown below your name. I won't get into grounding, but most outboard powered fiberglass boats, even big ones don't need to have their sounder unit grounded unless they have a problem or a specific reason to ground the unit.

Thanks First Light. Actually, I just installed one on a 22' ProSports cat. Wanted to make sure it wasn't really important.
