Default ICOM Command Mic

I have the ICOM 402 radio, and installed the command mic on my upper deck over the weekend. Of course the mic connects to the main radio down below....but I found that sometimes the lower deck (main radio) pics up transmissions that the command mic doesn't pick up. Does anyone have experience with the this system. I am not sure if that is to be expected or if there is something faulty.

Thanks..

I tested my new install this weekend and noticed the same thing. It appears to me that the squelch on the command mic and the head unit have independent settings.

I have a command mic installed with my ICOM 502. The post above is correct, the volume and squelch settings on the main unit and the command mic are separate. So, a transmission may be heard on one and not the other.

I don't have separate stations, but my main VHF is in the electronics box and I installed the command mic adjacent to the helm.

Thanks. That makes sense. I really haven't had much time to play with it so will play with the squelch a bit more this weekend.

Yep. You have to adjust the squelch on the command mic separately from the main unit. The only problem with this is, the squelch on the command mic is only a 5 step selection (select level 1 thru 5). So it's hard to get them exactly the same.
