Default JRC 1800 color radar/plotter or Garmin 2010

I need advice on an electronics package for my 21 cc with a T top.

I know the Garmin 2010 is a great product and with the recent price reductions (around 1740). The price is tough to beat. But in my research I saw the JRC 1800 color radar/chartplotter with GPS for $1625.

Since I will mostly use the boat in Long Island Sound and Cape Cod... Fog is an issue.

I'm sure Garmin is a better chartplotter but the JRC radar unit does give you that additional safety in poor weather conditions.

I want quality units but only have a $2500 budget and still need a good radio.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ralph

How much room do you have to mount equipment on your console? Good planning is key to being happy with your setup.

Combo's are always a trade off. You must determine which is more important to you.
NO combo has the best of everything.

You are right, the Garmin is a better plotter. Are you planning on having a fish finder also?
Like the previous post mentioned are you going to have room for more than one unit?

If you need radar you can get the JRC 1500 for less than $1000.

I have the JRC 500F which is the combo FF/Chartplotter. While I love the FF side of the unit.
The chartplotter does leave a little to be desired. I would imagine this also holds true for the 1800.
Where the Radar is going to perform great, and the chart just ok.

If you need radar you may consider stepping down to the Garmin 2006 and the JRC 1500.
