I hope this isn't old news.. I just saw that my distributor dropped the prices on the 2010C, 2006C and 320C. The 2010C is now just over $1700!!!

That is a heck of a deal.

yachtjim,
Do you have a storefront or are you 100% virtual? Looking @ the 2010c and was waitiing to see if all the rumors on Garmin were true. Looks like they are. Also in Annapolis and I could buy both local and THT supporter.

Is is safe to assume that they dropped the price on the 320C because of the 250C that was supposed to be out 4-12 weeks ago? I guess they just released it. Westmarine.com had the the 320C @649.00. Not sure if I want to wait and get real feedback on the 250C ( being its brand new and i heard they had some screen issues) I need a FF soon. The weather is gettin nice...

We have a store front in Eastport, our Yachts Sales office. We do not stock electronics here though. They get shipped to us from NJ, so they usually arrive one day after ordering.

I can't wait to get my hands on the 3000 series. Looks like they are clearing the shelves for these to come out.

Got this reply from Garmin today on a question about their new 3000 line of products. Might want to keep an eye on the Garmin website for the formal announcement. I'm hoping that the 2000 series is upgradeable with that spare jack on the back side.

"There have been no announcements of any such changes made via a Marketing
Memo. As frustrating as I know this can be, when GARMIN became a public
company traded on the stock exchange, major restrictions were placed on us
as a company.

What this means, is that I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or
plans for any product until receiving a Marketing Memo announcing it. And
truthfully, by then it would be on the website as well. If we share this
kind of information, it is considered insider trading and illegal."

So when the garmin rep receives the memo he will be able to confirm or deny it. If there was nothing to deny why would he be getting a memo?

Quick, everybody sell your Raymarine stock and buy Garmin stock this month! I wonder when Furuno is going step into the mix again with something new???

Supposedly a 2000 series with radar, but I can't confirm or deny that

The next thing you will see from Furuno will be a series of 12 and 15 inch monitors intended for use with the Navnet Black Box units they introduced last year. A friend of mine is rigging out a big new sportfishing boat and his electronics dealer was able to get two of the preproduction unitsto show him. Very nice and bright -- wish I could have one.

They (Garmin) must have released something. Check out the scan from Motorboating that I posted here http://www.thehulltruth.net/forums/t...23720&posts=11 .

The new units are on Garmin's website now. The weather overlay seems pretty neat.

It's hard to see, but the red arrows on the chartplotter screen are the wind direction overlay.

thanks, Fishing-Rod

Now that's cool. I have used similar equipment on some of the large yachts we have with huge electronics systems, but to package it all into a small Garmin unit is awesome.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall in the engineers lunchroom at Garmin, Furuno, and Raymarine. Maybe it will be the next reality show. Just when you think you release something cutting edge you get topped by someone else in a matter of weeks. Doohhh!

Says radar not available till 2005? Why release these units now? I guess for the weather/XM feature? Still don't see any info on site regarding networking to existing 2000 series.

I'd like to have the red arrows showing the direction the fish were swimming!!!

Call it: "Fish Heading Overlay"

It would almost always be away from my boat!!!

The way I see it, Garmin is playing catchup ball with a few bells and whistles that they hope will convince the general boating population that they are actually leapfrogging the competition. But I doubt that any captain who requires real time weather data with more detail than you can get by listening to a WX station, is going to go with a Garmin 3000 box. IMO, it just adds noise to an already busy screen. BTW, how are they doing that anyway?

Don't get me wrong, I think that Garmin has arguably the best chart software on the market, but their hardware is questionable under extreme conditions.

Let me know when USCG starts installing their stuff on their vessels, and I may look at their radar and sounders.

I wonder if the new units have different screens that don't get covered up with spots?

arghhhhh!!!! i'm gonna stick a 12/0 hook into the nose of the next person who sticks a finger on my screen!

kidding aside, i'd prefer garmin to upgrade its FF capabilities before moving onto stuff like weather vanes and even radar.
