Default Grounding of eguipment

Capt. Adam,
On a 23' boat do you need or should I say should you rig up a grounding method other than the batteries for grounding your electronics. They all seem to have an extra grounding post. Can you wire it to the - side of battery or should you go to a grounding plate?

Use your brass thru-hulls as a "Grounding plate". Connect them all together with a green 8 gauge wire via a grounding terminal block. Then, connect the grounding terminal to one side of a Galvonic Isolator, the other side of the Isolator whould connect to your Shore Power ground (green wire). Also, run a ground wire from the Neg battery terminal to the grounding terminal block.
