Default 1 isolator, 2 batteries and one 3 position selector switch.

How do I hook up the isolator to 2 batteries with a 3 position (1,all,2,off) selector switch? The engine is a Yamaha OX225 Saltwater Series.

The only thing I can come up with is that I need two seperate battery switches. Is this true.

Any comments welcome.

http://thehulltruth.com/6/ubb.x?a=tp...2&r=2536085582 Look at this recent conversation. I think you'll see you will need two. Get back if this does not answer your question.

Thanks, Sandpiper told me there was a schematic posted here recently. Thanks again.

I have one cranking battery, one deep cycle battery and one Perko switch. And of course one engine.

Make it work. The best answere goes here:

gotokeys ...take a look at the first diagram in my above thread. Just click on the blue! OK? Sorry, I was thinking two motors when I said probably two switches!

I'd like to find a good way to set up 3 batteries on 1 engine. Anyone do this?

Gotokeys, I have a similar setup (one outboard, two bateries, one three-way battery switch). Instead of a battery isolator I chose a battery combiner; it serves the same purpose as an isolator but is not diode-based and thus allows the combined batteries to attain a more complete charge. It was extremely simple to install (much more so than an isolator, if I understand correctly); the one I purchased came from West Marine and cost about $75., as I remember. It has a light that indicates when the two batteries are connected, and if the combiner is working properly.

Mumblerone. That diagram is good if you only have a switch. I want to add an isolator into that picture. Is there a schematic for that? I think I have to add a switch to each battery.

Gotokeys,
Have you thought about adding a combiner instead of the isolator? Combiner will charge both batteries while engine is running, shut down the charge on a battery if it is fully charged while continuing to charge the other until charged and seperate the two while discharging.
