I think, the first thing is to know what the primary use of the boat will be? Fishing, cruising and alike. The size of boat will have some efect on the electronics you buy. By this I mean will it be used offshore,or in the bays? Sure it's great to be able to buy the best, but some pockets are deeper than others.Regardless of what you buy as far as a boat goes, get the bestVHF andPFD money can buy.
Welcome aboard

Well I have the same question. My boat will be delivered on Saturday. I am planning to fish hard this year. I will stay in Jamaica Bay until I am familiar with my boat. Eventually I am planning to reach some wrecks outside, within 10 miles off the shore(That is my limit for the first year). I have sitex 106 bottom machine installed and Lowrance 350a GPS .VHF radio is also present there.
Questions:
Do I really need two fishfinders? (Both operational right now)
I feel I need chartplotter with WAAS. It would feel real nice if I am on the desired location with 6 feet precision. Must be very nice to know where channel limits in the dark. What if i decide to cruise somewhere from the home bay Do I really need it or its just nice toy?.

P.S. spent to much on the boat, summer slip and taxes , gotta count every penny now
