Default Garmin OS upgrade

I have a G 2006C and this past year I've been running the 5.30 operating system.

I recently received the new 5.40 version on a data card. I installed it this past weekend and when it was finished loading, it displayed "5.30" . How can I confirm that 5.40 was successfully installed ?

I sent Garmin and I'm waiting to hear back form them.

Dave

My guess is that either they accidentally sent you 5.3 on the card....or it didn't upgrade. Let us know.....

!. Try to load it again (put chip in prior to turning on unit).
2. If #1 does not work, call their CS 800-800-1020 and ask - they're pretty helpful.

I just checked the garmin software update page and it shows 5.30 as the latest version for the 2010 and 2006.

5.30 is the latest version. You can check what is on your unit by going to the system tab and pressing the "system Info" softkey.

John - wells, do either of you, or does anyone know if there have been any major changes in the last couple of software upgrades? I have a 2 yr old 2010 and last upgraded the software in July of '03.

First Light- The current version (5.3) became available in Sept '03. If you go to the GARMIN site and look on the software page for your unit, it gives a "release history" of what has been added or "fixed" in each version.

Sorry for the confusion guys. Just spoke with Garmin and here is the latest.

I was running 5.0 and needed to upgrade to 5.3. I sent them a Credit card # for deposit and they sent me a data card with the upgrade.

The label on the anti-static bag the card is shipped in says "5.4" and that is what I expected to be displayed after installation.

FWIW, The label on the data card says
SOFTWARE UPDATE CARD, GPSMAP 2006/2010/182/182C/232

The 182 C uses 5.4

Summary ....label says 5.4 but the software on the data card for the "2006 C" is 5.3 .

Looks like it loaded 5.3 just fine.
