Default Radio replacement?

My boat (2660 Sailfish) came with a Standard-Horizon intrepid ship to shore radio. Out fishing on Thursday, no sound from speaker. Hand held on boat (not mine) showed it was sending but not receiving. Does it pay to have it repaired? Radio is just over 3 years old and out of warrenty.

I would buy a new one as they are not that much money and you could end up waiting weeks to spend 40 or more bucks. When a 100 will put you on the water today with a new radio and a warranty.

dont replace it.........my Standard Horizon went out a few months ago and I sent it in for repair. It its out of warranty, they charge a flat rate of 65 bucks plus $15 shipping no matter what. I ended up getting a new icom 304 on ebay for $90. I would buy a new one since its out of warranty.

Did you check to see that the squelch was not turned all the way up?

If you can find an external speaker or a pair of headphones to fit the external speaker jack, plug it (them) into the jack and see if you get sound through the external speaker or headphones. If the answer is yes, it's a pretty simple repair, just a speaker, the jack, or a wire has come off. Not a repair that you can do, but a simple repair for a technician or even a hobbyist.
