Default Furuno 582 Transducer

I have a 29 inboard with a 582 Furuno and the transducer is thru hull and is big. It does not pick up past 1000 feet and does not work well spotting fish compared to my other ff. I am thinking the transducer is close to history as it appears to have had bottom paint on it at one time. Which transducer that is flush mount would be a good choice, I fish for snapper in 10-250 foot but mainly fish for billfish in 1000 foot plus and I deep drop in 1000 foot plus.
Thanks in advance.

The 582 only puts out 500 watts so don't waste alot of money on a 1KW ducer. A B60 tilted transducer is all you need. 500 watts is on the low side for deep water. You might have to consider a new sounder with more power.

I just put one up for sale here. They are a great fishfinder but not meant for deep water. you really need a 1kw unit for 1000 foot depths, Although you may still get a depth reading they are good for marking fish in 500 feet or less.
