Default NMEA multiplexer

There have been numerous questions on this forum regarding NMEA interfacing with a laptop.

I found this product in a magazine and thought it could be helpful in certain applications. It appears that it is only utilized with PC based marine electronic systems. They also have some other marine related products.

I'm not affiliated with wiredboat in any capacity.

Default RE: NMEA multiplexer

this is a $200 solution to the problem. It is easy to interface any nmea input/output to a serial connector on a computer. Fundamentally three wires have to be connected to a radio shack connector.....or do what I do which is to take an old/cheap serial cable and cut it off....strip the wires and then connect NMEA out to RS232 IN and NMEA in to RS232 OUT and the ground to ground.

I have a permanent computer wire connected to my GPS so I can upload/download waypoints and software upgrades that I built just this way.
