Im looking at getting a new sounder. I mainly fish off for tuna but do hit the wrecks from time to time. Is there that much more in the 582 for my needs then the 600??? The price difference is alot of pocket change and I'm out of funds and will be adding this to my line of credit . So price does matter but I want the best unit for the kind of fishing I do. Does anyone have any experance on these two units??

582. You can get some deals on these out there. I just got a new 582 with the thruhull depth speed temp trandsducer for $ 1018 brand new. Well worth the extra dough. More power 600w vs 350w and I like the knobs over the push buttons. How deep do you fish. Deeper than 3-400 ft definately get the 582

I paid the same as CCM, as a matter of fact I think it was him that emailed me asking where I got mine. Ebay had 2 of the 582L's each week listed under Boaters World Auctions. This is the listing that I got mine off of

I heard boaters world will be doing away with Furuno and they are clearing out their warehouses. I bought mine for the minimum of $1017. I was shocked when it came with a bronze Airmar/Furuno thru hull triducer included. I'm not sure if they are still listing them. I watched for a few weeks and none sold for more that $1050, a couple at $1025 and then they went for the minimum $1017. Several went unsold I belive. I sold the included triducer and got $185 for it. So the cost of my unit netted out around $850  I just bought a new M260 Airmar to go with the unit. Hope this helps.

The cat's out of the bag now. Terry, is the new boat ready to go yet. Mine went to the shop yesterday for a new 200 hpdi. Maybe if we get some good weather we,ll have a chance to get out there.

Not home yet, looks like the middle of next week, but the rigging has started already. This is the 1833c and the 582L in the lower electronics box.
