Yes. Garmin sells a $25 program that does just that. Do a search here for MapSource and get an eye full of information.

Hi tdk72,

It looks like you and me have the same problem. I purchased the mapsource trip and waypoint manager but still can't transfer my waypoints onto the SD card. The manual with my 550 is pants with minimal information on how to transfer files or what software to buy. The Garmin website gives no clue either as to what the problem might be.

Having discussed it with Garmin they advised buying trip and waypoint manager, which I did and even got the latest VISTA version from their website but I can only see how to save files with a .GDB extension. Having undertaken a simple experiement of manualy creating a waypoint on the map550, saving it ( you have to format the SD card in the unit first) I have ascertained that the map550 is probably looking for a file with a .ADM extension and not a .GDB one!

Maybe you can put me right on it SANDYDA as you also previously advised me that this software is good for transfer of waypoints. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
