Default humminbird 97 matrix

I just saw this GPS/FF unit for the first time, although it appears to have been around for the past four years. Does anyone have any information about it? It actually looked good and the functions seemed intuitive. but this is as tested while it was bolted to a counter in a store. I'm hoping someone has practical information from use on the water.

Its ok but its older technology and dated. Get an 1100, 900 or 700 series. They are good units!

I purchased one 4 years ago when West Marine cleared them out for $250. Found a Navionics card for $200 on Ebay. I also installed a protector sheet for the screen which causes some dimming but it's still clear. The unit listed for $700-$800 so this was a great deal for me as it matched my space requirements for a small console. The GPS is accurate and fairly easy to use. The machine marks bait extremely well (main usage) as I have it installed on my Flats Boat. I did not expect to transfer waypoints from my other units so I can't comment on their software. It's tedious in order to set it up for the first time so that you have the info you prefer on each screen but that's a one time event. It is older technology, but my Garmin 215 and 225 as backup still work great. I would compare prices and then compare how you want to use it. I've not had it in deeper water..40FT the most and I NOT a fan of Hummingbird but it works well and the price was right. Good luck.
