Default C-Map support kinda sucks

Ihave a Standard Horizon Cp1000/FF520 setup.

Spoke to CS rep at SH about making sure I had the latest firmware for my units.

They told me I needed to contact C-Map as they make the software for the units and they would have to get me the upgrades.

Been dealing with a CS rep at C-map for 2 weeks and aside from him telling me 1st I needed to get it from SH, he says (beginning fo this week), that he can not get in touch with C-Map tech support (2 different Dept.s I guess).

SO, C-Map really has no idea that they make the Software for my SH units (one of which I know is out of date) AND, apparently, they can't get in touch with their own tech support who actually has the update cards (according to SH) to send to me.

I do like my C-Map charts and all, but this is like a bad joke.

Call me to let me know who you are and I'll get you squared away. I'll call both reps and figure out what needs to be done for you.

Hmmm, I was able to update my unit pretty easily. Since it was 3 years since I bought my chart, I joined club CMAP, got my chart updated and also got my firmware updated. No problems.

Call this number for the C-Map Tech. Dept. 1.800.424.2627 x9770. They may need some info from the rear pannel of the CP 1000 as there is more than 1 SW update , however it is unit specific so the more info you can povide is helpful.

Should you still have a problem on Monday send me a PM.

Thanks Jim.

I believe my Cp 1000 is up to date (and believe it is the Samsung processor).

My FF520 is sitting at 1.15.00 and know it is and older revision.

Would also love to see the revision history sheet.

Thanks.

OUCH, this thread title hurts!

mboy - I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and I really can't even explain why! The only thing I can imagine is he wanted to pass you directly to a specific technician, rather than to their group voice mail (which happens if they are all on the line already), but obviously it didn't work out in your favor.

There is nothing difficult about getting the upgrade - but if you have additional questions regarding what the upgrade is for, or the revision history, this is where tech gets involved.

Fortunately Jim is on the job here, but if you would like just send me your phone number (or email) and we'll have tech contact YOU directly.

Looks like C-Map support kinda rocks

I have always found Club C-Map to be helpful

I think a retraction is in order

I don't think so as their is still no resolution.

Have sent emails and Pm's, but no resolution.

I have not had the time to sit on the phone with tech support (when their really is no need to).

AND, I have still not heard back from my original CS rep after numerous emails.

So don't tell me how a retraction is in order, how great their service is or how bad the title of this thread hurts.

As a matter of fact, it took a posting on here a month or 2 back to get an answer to a question that I sent 3 different people over at C-Map that never responded.

It takes asking in a public forum or joining their C-club to get good service?

I finally got to the boat to see which firmware version(s) I have. My unit is a refurbished CP1000C purchased from BOE on March 02, 2006. It came pre-updated to accept the new(at that time) CMAX cards.
There's alot of info and I don't know which is important so I'll post it all.

You are def due for an update on both the Cp1000 and FF520.

Cp100 current is something like V11.08.XX

FF520 is V1.29.00R

I just need for the FF520

How is the update accomplished ? Does CMAP send out a card or does the unit need to be returned.

They should send a card from what SH tells me, but you see the trouble I am having trying to do it via web (vs calling tech support altho I will see if I can call them on lunch break today).

mboy - I have sent you a PM as well as my personal email address. It is more difficult to do by email due to the number of variables, but let's proceed by regular email rather than through this forum, I think it will go much faster!

Lowranger - you're next! If you have time to call for the upgrade, please do, but what we MUST have is the MOD number found on the placard on the BACK of the CP1000. With this, we can send the correct s/w upgrade cards.

The upgrade is FREE, however we do charge $49.95 per card at shipping, which is credited back in full when you return the upgrade cards within 15 days.
