Default icom422/lowrance lcx27 noise on channel 68

Hi,
i just started experiencing noise on channel 68 when I have both the radio (icom 422) and lcx 27 on. I can't receive on channel 68 due to the noise. It doesn't squelch out. The lcx is the boats sonar. I don't think it's the sonar function that is causing the problem though. I'm also having the same noise on a few of the other channels, 67 and i forget the third.
There are two other lowrance units on the boat which aren't causing any problems. Everything seems to be grounded correctly. Any ideas ?

Thanks
Eric

Strange it just started, did you change anything? rewire, new antenna or move some ground points around? If not I would start with the antenna, check to see if you have any corrosion in the PL259 connector (back of your radio). Try separating, cleaning and reconnecting.

Another common problem is boaters use wing nuts on their batteries instead of tightening them down with a standard nut. Over the coarse of the season they become loose from vibration. Make sure all of these connections are tight and clean, and corrosion free.

Do you have a backup VHF radio you can put in the line to see if the problem persists?

Nick

everything is same old same old. I will check the antenna connection. My original guss was a ground problem somewhere. I checked everything and will do so again. I was thinking of running a temporary/second ground back to the battery to see if it will solve the problem. No time today though it's fence post digging time.

I just installed the exact combination on my boat and can hear the digital signal from the sounders NMEA output through the audio chain as well as the ping on the ducer. I've not had time to start curing the cause, but the first thing I will be doing is installing torroids on everything coming to the radio (except the antenna coax obviously). I don't hear it over the received audio signal say of a weather station and it doesn't open the sql circuit. I suspect poor filtering on the DC board as I get the same sort of noise leak on my IC208 in the truck.

It will be a couple weeks before I get back to this - sorry

I figured it out. It was/is the ethernet cable going from the lcx to the globalmap.
