Default Lowrance LCX-113C

Does anyone have any experience with this model? I am interested in setting it up with Radar as well and have found a really good 'deal'. I was first looking at Garmin 4200 series however they are comparable I may just have to go Lowrance.

Any thoughts or comments would be great.

I have the LCX-111HD unit, and it performs very well, both as a CP and even more so the fish finder detail. So the 112 and 113HD would be good units too, and you can add the digital sounder module to the 112/113 for a superior fishfinder system. Lowrance will be releasing their new product line within the next few weeks, and they have something big they will be announcing. So do your research, but I'd wait until the next generation products are released, and see if what they have is important to you. I don't think you could go wrong with the 113, though, especially is you pick one up steeply discounted, which they will surely be doing very soon.

What is actually steeply discounted is the radar.

I was looking at the Lowrance open arrays and it looks to be the antenna only and not the motor. The motor looks to be $2K. I am checking on one more place to see if they are selling the entire unit or just the antenna top.

Odd- Most of the time I see the Garmin motor and antenna split into two parts on the web-sites. Turtle Marine shows the Lowrance as a single unit in the $2500 range. However I found the Lowrence on clearence at a local place for $1000. Just wondering how the Lowrence compairs with the Garmin 4200 series. The Lawrence 113C is about 2300, the Garmin 4210, also a 10" display is around 1900. The Garmin open array is about 3400.

No. Unfortunately they are not showing all their cards yet. One thing to look for, is the broad-band sounder will be built-in to the new units.

But the real good stuff is being kept under wraps, until the up-coming Ft Lauderdale show.

Wow... so all Lowrance products are junk?
I guess if the "professional" says so... it must be true.

Dude, I've always been VERY impressed with your quality and workmanship when it comes to fiberglass, but you are out to lunch in your evaluation of electonics. Stick to fixing all the design flaws of production boats, but stay out of the electronics advice. Need I remind you that Lowrance (under the original ownership) invented the first transistorized sonar? There aint a manufacturer that didn't create a dud in the entire consumer electronics industry, but to say all Lowrance units are junk is just ignorance.

I recently just decided between the LCX113 and the Garmin 3010 series for my new boat and got so much bad feedback from Lowrance owners here and on other forums regarding reliability and cust service that it pushed my hand back to Garmin. I really like the fishfinder on the Lowrance tough. I will say that I am impressed so far with the new Garmin GSD22 sounder box over the GSD20 I had on my old boat. I have only used it 3 days so far though.

i'm well aware of all this...trust me...i've seen more problems with lowrance units than any other units combined...their customer service is about non existant-i know this for a fact-the lowrance unit on my rig -it was on it when i got,has a problem, the unit was just out of warranty, lowrance did nothing to help the situation...i've had the same reaction a few times with customer's equipment.i was told by their technical support team,a few pixels out on the display on a new unit,is acceptable-hard to believe huh ???i'm not the only guy who's got a bad review of lowrance equipment-do a search...

Jim, I'm not about to get into it with you, but my final answer on this topic is as follows: I've been a consumer electronics dealer for almost 20 years and you and all the 'internet goblins' opinions about Lowrance are just flat out fantasy. You forget about all the recent fogging issues on Raymarine, the non-waas antenna issues. How about the screen anti-reflection coming off the Garmin's and their lackluster remote sounder. How about the bust of Navnet when it first came out. Lowrance is not exluded from this list with it's issues either, however the first to bring consumers full VGA and a useable NMEA2000 interface device. The list goes on and on with all these manufacturers as they rush product to market before time in an effort to appease their stock holders...."do a search".

Now let's talk about service... I suspect that you didn't approach the situation correctly. Since the early days, even when they are unable to help they always give you a credit for a new device. Secondly, when your warranty is out on your vehicle you want service for free? Just because Garmin and Bennett are knows to go over the top in service doesn't make Lowrance junk.

All good points dowop, and I agree. I have seen the anti-glare coating wear off of Garmins in a short priod of time. I've seen the fogging problems with Ray Marine. I've also had bad Ray marine units, right out of the box. All brands have had issues here and there. Imo, Lowrance's sonar runs rings around Garmin and Ray Marine.
Unfortunately, your wasting your time with the so called "professional". He is incapable of holding a logical discussion about anything. He is always right and everyone else is wrong....period.

Not to gang-up on Lowrance, but I talk my customers out of them all the time too. They just don't seem to hold up. Their software is a bit twitchy. As far as their radar's go, their OK. I have done 6 of them and walk away thinking for the same money, I would buy Raymarine or Furuno. Their radars are functional, (I believe they're made by Navico), just seem a bit difficult to tune consistantly.

As far as the Lowrance DF running circles around Raymarine,.......I don't know about that.

one of the problem units was my own...like i stated, customer service is terrible at best,i tried and i tried real hard to...i steer everyone away from lowrance products-i've lost count of the problems i've seen...
