Default Suzuki electroincs help

I have a 2007 175 4 stroke Suzuki motor and would like to have a smart gauge installed ( MPG, rpm, motor hours, oil, fuel flow etc)

My dealer whom I bought the boat and motor from has no understanding of the way this all ties into the motor and keeps talking about a module that is needed that is expensive?

I was under the impression that a Suzuki smart gauge and cord plugged directly into the motor and you were good to go. I also was under the impression that we could pick up the fuel tank with a T coupling and another sensor so I would have a accurate fuel gauge

there should be a picture of boat and motor in my Signature so you can see what it looks like

any and all help will be appreciated

You need to set up an NMEA2000 network on the boat and get a Lowrance EP-20 engine adapter - then whatever NMEA2000 display that suits you. You can get it all from Suzuki, but its MUCH less expensive to get the stuff from Lowrance as they make it anyway. You can also use most new Lowrance FF/Plotters or just in dash instruments.

Lowrance has some great data on their site. Here's a few to get you started:

When it comes time to buy, I suggest you go to BOE Marine. Jim is a sponsor here and very knowledgeable of the intricacies of the NMEA2000 interface. He has some of the very best prices around and even has his own DF250 (I think its a 250) set up with it. Best of all, if you have questions you can actually call and talk to him.

BTW - You can buy just an LMF400 from him ($121 nice price!) and then the EP-20 and all the necessary NMEA parts to set up the bus on your boat.

Check your fishfinder/chartplotter also, as it may be NEMA 2000 compatable and when you set up your backbone, can plug in your fishfinder/chartplotter to give you MPG, GPH, etc etc
