Default Anyone have a Garmin 498 with an Airmar transducer ?

According to the Airmar site the B744V (600W) cross refs with the 498.

I was wondering if it is worthwhile putting a $350 transducer on a $500 gps/sonar ?

And if anyone has the combo was wondering how much of a difference it shows the bottom and marks fish, etc. in 200-300 feet water.

TIA

I've installed a B60 Airmar w a Garmin 498 in a 20ft Mako. It works VERY well together.

Nice going. Why did you choose the B60 ? and where on the hull did you mount it ?

TIA

Ease of install, Cleanliness of install and the fact that they work extremely well at all speeds.

Here's a different boat with another B-60 installed. This one is hooked to a Furuno 585. These pix's give you a better idea.

I always install the X-ducer on the STB side.

I also installed a tilt-element B-60 on my Bluewater. It was an easy install and plugged right into my Garmin 198. It holds the bottom much better than the old transom mount.
