Default Wiring from GPS to DSC VHF

I just installed a Garmin 4208 and ICOM M304, and both have interface 0183 cables, with plugs into the machines, and bare wires at the other end of each cable. I have the color coding scheme for both machines for the hook-up, but am wondering if anyone uses a connector between the two, or if one is made for that purpose? Both are heavy cables, and with only two of the wires being connected for the DSC capability, I will need to support the connection - easier if there is a hard connector. Thanks, Ken.

I have like 22G wires for mine.

I used those 3m gel connectors, but they didn't last too long.

I wound up just twisting them together and using water proof wire nuts that they sell for car audio installs.
Much stronger and more perm connection.

Those euro connectors are nice. I'd suggest applying a bit of dielectric grease to the connections.

In my application where my radio is mounted in the T-top and the GPS in the console I ran a 2 conductor marine grade between the two and soldered the connections.

Button connectors must not be under tension. Support the cables independantly on either side. A small block or the connector Tom used above is fine if you are connecting more than 4 wires, but it to needs to be protected from mechanical loads on the cables. Note that he has his cables coiled and rigidly supported. Soldering these little wires is an art form. Button connectors are for the less accomplished DIYers.
