m260 transducer results
#1

Thought I'd share my results of installing a m260 1kw shoot-thru transducer. It held bottom out to 1800ft great, I'm really impressed with the performance over the 600kw flush mounted thru-hull it replaced.
It's a raymarine c120/ dsm300 on a 32 intrepid.
I wanted to include a picture, but I can't figure out how-

Here are some pics from my 1kw Furuno driving a B260 coming back in from out deep off of Port Lucaya, Bahamas. Came trolling in from 2500' and getting some turbulence underneath it - probably stay that way until I move it aft. I don't know if the target discrimination is any better (e.g. small fish near structure) but so far I'm pretty happy with it.
Does your perform better in terms of clarity out deep?

same - no complaints. It is as good as I need it to be. best sounder I have ever had. I know that there is the B260 which should be even better and the new 2KW (and I think 3KW coming) but I just can't see it performing any better - or needing to perform better (DSM300 - Raymarine E - M260)

I have that exact setup...love it. I start to loose bottom around 1650 feet or so or 280 fathoms. It also holds bottom while on plane at any speed so if I run over something interesting, I can stop to check it out....no need to run over fish to find fish. Only issue is need for separate temp sensor so had to install that on the transome and run the wire to the helm and connect to the DSM using the Y cable.
