Default FM Radio Antenna

I just got a jensen FM/CD Radio and am debating about which type of antenna to get. I usually fish within 10 miles of the beach off of S Jersey. It's on an 18ft wa. What did you guys do on your boat? Thanks, AJ

AJ,

I just mounted the 18" antennae West sells for $19 this weekend. My boat, now covered with snow again, is sitting in a valley surrounded by trees and I go great reception. Don't know if that's the same as being on the water but I bought mine to use the CD player when the wife is on the boat anyway.

Good luck.

Marge! Look at all this great stuff I found at the Marina. It was just sitting in some guy's boat! - Homer Simpson

Two years ago I installed a "rubber" 18" antenna on my son-in-law's boat. Two previous antennas had been broken by "excited fishing grandchildren." This antenna works just fine and it is fisher-child proof

have one of those rubber ones and have it mounted below decks and it works great. With an 18' boat I doubt you will get far enough offshore that you would need anything else.

Besides $20 is hard to beat.

I have the 8' whip. I would hesitate trying to piggy back on the VHF. Why screw around with your safety?
With the antennae I can get stations I can't get at home from as far as 40 miles away(not 40 miles offshore).
