Default Installing Furuno 582L

Would you install the 582L in the t-top electronics box or the
electronics box in the console in front of you. I already have
the chartplotter flush mounted in the console box. The 582L
would fit right next to it. Thank you for your input.

Definately the console. When you're usin' it you're usin' it a lot and you want it as close as you can get it.

i have my sounder/fishfinder and gps chartplotter mounted on my console
and my radar and vhf mounted in my t-top electronics box.

i use my sounder and chartplotter the most bye having my sounder and chartplotter on the dash i dont have to tilt my head back to see them. just move my eyes. the radar and vhf i use the least so i mounted them high in the electronics box but when i use the radar i have to tilt my head up constantly. the would be a pain in the ass if i had to do that all day every day.
good luck and let us know what you do.

I hung my 582 from the hardtop directly over the helm.

You can see it well from the cockpit.

Folks with bifocals just plain can't see electronics in the overhead.....Trust me on this, I wear (invisible) bifocals.

People with bifocals can't see overhead, can't see underneath, can't see to tie a knot, can't see a strike, can't see what kind of beer they're drinking, can't see......................

.......... but even so, my 582L is on the console.

Most people agree to mount the 582L in the console. Is their any problems
when you have direct sunlight on the screen. They all say they are sunlight
viewable. Thanks

Mine is flush mounted in the console. Sunlight is only an issue really early or real late if you have a t-top. I have more trouble because of my polorized sunglasses. Sometimes it is like the screen is blank unless you have a direct view of the screen with no angle.

Just a thought, but if you do a lot of night fishing sometimes the light produced by all the electronics
obscures your vision if you can't get out from directly in front of the instruments. I've found even
dimming the back light doesn't help. Maybe overhead might be a better choice.
