Default Navionics Upgrade opinions wanted

I have a Ray C120 with the gold chart. I have had the chart for a couple of years and use the boat in SE Florida and the Keys. Do you think the chart has been updated enough to bother upgrading. Also I read in an earlier thread it was not worth it to upgrade to platinum as only the E series can only handle all upgraded features. Does anyone have a C series and find the platinum chip useful? I think there are a few features available. Thanks.

Did you decide to upgrade? If so I might be interested in buying your old chip - send me a PM if interested.

thanks

I cant say for raymarine but the plantinum for lowrance is a joke at best . big waste of money and the 3D part will just lock up to make you have to restart it ,
mine is networked to another lowrance but still . Lowrance should have never relesed something so lame that cost so much $$$$

do your home work and see it work on some one elses unit before spending $$$

I am a huge lowrance fan and I have over 10k in lowrance on my boat .
I dont think the 3 d locks up my units
I belive its the software ,and haveing 2 lcx113 chd units connected

lowrance might update to a new version mabey in the not so near future ,

It might not lock up if on a stand alone unit . I have a
few issues with 2 113 units networked together and I would be will to bet that its all a soft ware issue .

I have had many extra expenses and costly redos beacsue of lowrance product issues and lots of extra work due to lowrance product
issues and most of them are lowrance growing pains and learning curves that I have endured along with them , on the plus side
I know their stuff verry well and have learned ton about their product and electronics in general

I have reamined fathfull to lowrance and have recomend $$$$$$$ in lowrance sales to my friends and coustomers !!!! all along

The past $$$ lost and growing pains and tons of rework due to lowrance is not of issue to me
The 2.3 version software . navoincs 3d . lowrances networking capabilitys . and the new braodband sounder are of a big disspapointment to a verry loyal lowrance fan

I am shure most of the issues will be sorted out in time but . this is a message board and the message is if you are networking lowrance units and plan to run navonics 3 d chip be ready fro a few bothersome issues and my opnion the 3 d is not worth it untill they work out the issues

and a person might want to see real world on a friends unit or feedback from ray mairine guys before the extra $$ for platinum

I also have the gold chip in my other unit thats current so I dont see any changes like you did , and its the same as my platinum but without 3d
I use nautic path some of the times , its a great chart . but seems that navonics works real well for northern waters and canada for fishing . and I perfer the navonics most of the time I just had a friend pick up platinum card fo his e seris ray marine i will see if he likes it

good luck

I've also got a C120 with the gold chip. I'm waiting to upgrade until Nav and Ray give us C series users the same combined Nav/Fish capability they recently brought out for the E series. The C120 soft keys already allow selection of Nav vs Fish charts, but until we get the combined chips it's useless. The Navionics guy that posts here (Jeff?) said on another thread he was going to look iinto this, but I never heard anything. My thinking: if the software's in place on the C120, the chip must be expected sooner or later.

My guess is that if you get a Platinum Plus chart (the 8 gig chip), you MIGHT be able to select fish or nav as both are on the plus chip.

It does work fine in my E system. But it is slow to change from fish to nav sometimes.

The 3 d wokes good when it works . and a 9200 is a different unit than a 113 hd , so different software

. I have other problems with the net work ./ that usally come around only when in 3 d mode ,
I have spoke with lowrance and they know its a issue . the updated software has caused issues with 111 hd modles without a platinum ship and all units were fine mine and my friends untill software updates .
The 111 is not even networked and has issues with some luck all units will be solved on the next software upgrade is what i am told
