Default Fish finder opinions

This is for a friend of mine.
The boat is an Everglades 240cc. He is already settled on the GPS/radar (Garmin 4012, 24 HD dome) and transducer (B164 1KW tilted element). The question is:
Furuno 585 dedicated FF - and handheld 2nd GPS (which he already owns), or opt for a RM C80+DSM300+GPS antenna for another $1K.
The main objective is the best FF of the two. I told him to go with Furuno but he wants more opinions...(go figure )

Default RE: Fish finder opinions: Furuno 585 vs. RM DSM 300

Somebody must have seen/used both!
Which one is the better FF with an 1KW B164: the Furuno 585 or the Raymarine DSM 300?

I have the Furuno 585 w/ a 600w Airmar transom mount. It is by far the best fish finder that I've ever used. It picks up snapper & grouper in 100' of water at 30 mph. I'm sure the 1000w transducer would be awesome.

585 if he can afford it. Mine gets Bugs Bunny at 1400 feet with the 1KW in hull.
