Default Garmin Radar Dome Wedge

I have a garmin 3210 with the closed radar dome mounted flat on the t-top of a 31 contender. This is a new boat for me and I have never used the radar. My local boat maintenance guy is telling me that I need to have a angled wedge mounted under the radar dome in order for it to get the correct radar broadcast or signal. Should this unit be mounted on a wedge ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know nothing about radar. Thanks !!

In the strict sense of the word, he is correct, but I would not hassle with it. I have the same garmin setup and tried it both ways and for a mid size CC that rides flat when radar is most important, it's not necessary, IMO...

Read "Radar for mariners" - get it off Amazon - EZ read and will explain all

There is actually an offset for the radar when using the tools to setup the radar. It measurement is in degrees from being horizontal.

Denny, I think you're referring to the bearing offset adjustment which, if I understand wadepscott's question, doesn't apply here. If I'm misunderstanding you, can refer me to your source? I'm not aware of this particular adjustment and would appreciate the information.

I just put two 3/4" long aluminum ferrules under the rear mounting holes. That got me the 5 degrees I needed. Ace Hardware in the assorted hardware trays. If you need longer bolts, I got mine at
