Default GPSmap 545s

What is required to configure AIS or DSC information on the GPSmap 545s?

You don't need anything per se. Just wire the AIS receiver's output to one of the 545s' inouts, then go to system configuration and set whichever port you chose for AIS.

Since AIS talks at 38,400 baud and DSC talks at 4800 baud, they need to be wired to different com ports. Set the speeds on you communications tab. Some AIS units want to know where they are, and a lot of radios can tell your GPS where your buddies are. Two way communication to both is possible by connecting a few more wires. What brands and models do you have?
