Which transducer frequency is the best for deepwater(1000feet plus) target definition?

Lower frequencies can travel to greater depths, but higher frequencies show more detail. Your question is hard to answer as FF power, transducer Q, and frequency all help determine depth and resolution.

Thanks for the reply Jim I am looking at a new fishfinder to use in waters deeper than 1000 feet that will give me good target definition and detail. I have been awaiting the release of the Furuno FCV 1150 and am wondering which transducer to match to it. I want as narrow a beam that I can get with the best definition.

Scotty:

OK, lets assume cost is not a problem, you are waiting on a new generation FF that is a high power broadband FF. So you should match it with a high performance broadband transducer. So do you want a thru hull transducer, or an in hull transducer? Do you trailer your boat or put it up on a lift requiring low profile thru hull or a in hull design.

Here are a few suggestions:

Airmar in hull broadband R399
25 to 45 kHz
130 to 210 kHz
2 to 3 kW RMS
High-performance
Urethane

Airmar in-hull broadband R299
33 to 60 kHz
130 to 210 kHz
2 to 3 kW RMS
High-performance
Urethane

Airmar thru-hull broadband R209
33 to 60 kHz
130 to 210 kHz
2 to 3 kW RMS
High-performance
Urethane

These transducers can take advantage of your high power FF 3 KW, and ability to utilize best possible frequency as they are broadband. Call Airmar and ask them for their advice .

That set up is going to be really cool, I am jealous.

Can you let me know who the supplier is please Bowser? Sounds like your going to use the unit in fairly deep waters with the two low frequency transducers you have.
