Default Raymarine and Seatemperature Error

Here is my setup: Ray C-80, DSM300, B260 ducer. All of a sudden my temp reading on the C-80 is 15 degrees low. The C-80 will only let me adjust up to 9.9 degrees. Any ideas?Thoughts? on what may be the problem. The ducer and DSM 300 are only 1 year old. The C-80 2 years.

Thanks Stan

This appears to be a continuing problem. My boat was doing the same thing. The module needed to be replaced. I have E-series stuff. My friend with thae same boat and C- series had the same problem and the same solution.
It should be a warranty problem.

T, which part was the problem? Ducer, Display, or DSM? Did you guys go directly back to Raymarine or through the retailer?

If this is a continuing problem, I would imagine Raymarine is aware and shuold be trying to fix the problem. I haven't seen anything from them. Did I miss something? Stan

Stan,

I had a problem where my temperature was reading off the scale high. It was caused by the temperature tranducer getting fried. That can happen if the transducer gets unplugged and plugged back in with power being applied to the DSM. Do you have a separate speed/temp transducer (the paddlewheel unit) from your B260?

The first thing I'd do would be to do a system reset ON THE DSM300 - not the C80. Try that (it's done from the C80 panel) and see if that fixes it.

If not, then I'd call Raymarine as you should still be in warranty on the DSM (I think it's two years). The transducer warranty I'm not sure of, but I'd hope it's the same.

Good luck,

Joe

The temperature module (ST69) is a separate piece w/paddle wheel connected to the B260 cable. Mine lasted 3 seasons and a new one was about $130. Mine was reading higher than the actual temp. These items are warranted for one or two years. If its only a year old I would send it back to raymarine for an exchange.

Thanks for the input. I don't use an ST69, but it may be a possibiity if the problem is in the B260. I just got a tech sheet with reading I should get on my B260 to see if it is the problem. If it is the B260, it will be a hastle to uninstall, get a replacement, and then reinstall. It might be cheaper and more efficient to just hook in the ST69. The fishfinding/depth readings abilities seem to be fine on the B260. Agian thanks for the reply.

Stan,

Give me a call, I just might be able to help you out. I have a spare "y" cable and a sender and thru-hull. When were you planning on hauling out?
