Default Bleeding air out of the TR-1 Shadow Drive

How difficult is it to bleed the air out of the Shadow Drive of a TR-1 Gladiator autopilot?

(I fear the answer to this question)

I think I figured out the problem that I am having with the TR-1 Autopilot. I called Garmin support and one statement that the rep said stuck in my mind.
He said that it almost sounded like a hardware installation problem. I went into the console of the boat to study the installation of my TR-1 Gladiator.

The dealer that installed the unit did a couple of things that the installation manual specifically indicates not to do.

1. The installer placed tee joints directly on the helm feeding hydraulic hoses to the engines and one incoming from the Shadow Drive.

The manual specifically states that you CANNOT place a tee between the helm and the Shadow Drive.

2. The Shadow Drive valve is below the autopilot pump.

The manual specifically states that the Shadow Drive valve needs to be above the autopilot pump but below the helm.

I am going to try to get these things fixed before trying again. I am pretty sure that this is going to fix all of my problems/headaches.

Thanks for all of the input on the TR-1 Gladiator autopilot....I'm sure that I will be enjoying the AP very soon.

Sometimes it is just easier to install yourself. Even for the inexperienced, at least you read the manual during the install.

I have a TR-1 waiting for my boat to arrive. I will install everything myself.

Goodluck with your TR-1.
