Default Looking for water proof 4 pin connector

I'm trying to make my VHF easily removable from the boat. It has the two 12 volt wires and 2 NMEA wires. I'm looking for a 4 pin connector that is water proof and not terrible difficult to install. Sort of like a trailer plug but more durable and water tight.

Does anyone know of anything like this? Thanks!

Have you considered mounting the radio inside and using a remote mike at the helm?

That looks like a great choice.

Yeah they're the best I've seen by far and I found them by accident.

Going to try these on my radar cable connections. Right now I used a NEMA strip from radio Shack

How hard are they to install? Is it just basic soldering? Icom doesn't give you a lot of cable to work with on the back of the radio.

Factory used this on my bilge pump and happy they did, made swapping it out MUCH easier. (unfortunately I had to cut the old wire becuase I couldn't find these)

I have the same question about how you attach wires to the connector though... It seemed like a good watertight connection and I'd probably use a few more of them. (It'll certainly make replacing the bilge pump next time a lot easier!!!)

These are called Deutsch connectors and are widely used in military and other extreme duty areas. One negative about these connectors is that they require a special tool to attach the pins to each conductor and I'm not sure if you can ~make do~ with a generic type crimper or not.

Ack. Summit racing sells them under the MSD brand, but you'll need the crimp tool ($70) plus the crimp dies ($30) plus the connectors...

Deutsch connectors are standard on regulators, and folks wonder why regulators cost so much.

These connectors are the the ticket. Great stuff.

They are really great conectors and come in variety of pin configurations. You can solder wires to the pins, but crimping is easiest. Yellowfin uses these on its boats as well, which compliments their top-notch rigging nicely.

LOL, good to hear - so now the list is Regulator, Yellowfin, and Pro-Line.

(although even after 4 hours of my own wiring time, can't get the back of my console to look as good as those YFs!!)
