Default Speaker wire?

I am about todo an install and am wondering if marine speaker wire is worth it? Any input?

cmd5
infinity kappa
clarion amp.

I have a 89 grady and rewired the boat last year. It had auto wire in it and it was only corroded where the wire was exposed?

Thoughts?

you should use tinned copper wire. if that is what marine speaker wire is, then yes, its worth it.

Tinned wire is the right choice. I used this stuff: 14/2 AWG Tinned Marine Boat Cable - Round PER FT $0.48 from www.genuinedealz.com. I like it because it has a heavy casing over the wires, so no chance of cutting the cover while pulling it.

Wow you don't need to use 14gauge on speakers. Its a waste of $$$. Use 20 or 22 tinned it's alot cheaper and ideal for speakers.

thats pretty small for speaker wire, especially since he is running an amp to them. if it was just off the head unit power, then 20 awg is about the minimum i would run to a speaker, and thats if the runs are kept relatively short.

here is a speaker wire calculator: http://www.bcae1.com/images/swfs/spe...rassistant.swf

16 or 18 awg is all he would need for his application
