Default Catamaran transducer question?

Anyone had any success mounting a lowrance skimmer type transducer on a Cat. I'm going to try it tomorrow as a temporary fix until I get the $ cash for a whole new system. It's an lcx-15mt and the boat is a 27 Prokat. I don't see any obvious location. Also has anyone bought an after market airmar and used it with success with this unit or this boat. Any input appreciated. Thanks as always, G

Default Re: Catamaran transducer question?

I had a LCX-16CI with the skimmer transducer installed on my ProKat 2860 and it worked fine, till the LCX-16 died. I since upgraded to the Garmin 4208 and the P79 ducer. i was able to install the shoot thru hull ducer in the bilge and I am very happy with the results. I can see the bottom while on plane and have been able to find ledges and breaks that I have been driving over for years. I highly recommend the P79 for the ProKats but you will loose the temp sensor. If you already have the skimmer type ducer, it will work fine on the ProKat, just keep it away from the raw water intake side.
