Default VHF/GPS antenna locations question

I am putting up an arch over the console on a 17 foot whaler to carry the gps antenna and give the VHF antenna more height as it has been rail mounted before causing the coax to be routed accross the floor of the boat. the arch is about 36" wide at the top and 7ft high, The GPS is a small mushroom style 4" tall, and the VHF antenna will most likely be mounted about shoulder high so its not so high up whipping around when trailering even when folded back, will these antennas inter fere with one another in any way at about 3ft apart?

Probably not. It is possible you MIGHT loose the GPS signal when transmitting, but how often do you transmit anyway?

And chances are that there will not be any interference anyway. GPS signals are way higher than marine VHF frequencies. So there should not be a problem. And like I said before even if there is a problem it will only show up when you are transmitting on the VHF - which most people do not do very often anyway.

In short, I would just install the GPS and VHF antenna as planned.

I do not think you will have a problem.

Of course you could always test fit your stuff first! Just clamp on the antennas, run the cables over and around stuff, and see how it works. THEN take the time to install things right after you know it will work

3' apart is plenty. ive mounted antennas closer than that on tower installations without any issues.
