Default no detail on mapping Navnet2/ cmap max

First let me say I struggle with electronics big time so this is probably operator error. I have a one year old navnet 2 Furuno that I have a cmap max chart in (Lake Erie) I get no detail when I try to zoom in. I also have a lowrance 111hd right next to it that I can watch myself back into a slip. Where do I start to look ? Don't get to technical I want to use the 111 as my fishfinder and the Furuno for mapping. The 111 was supposed to be my backup and it is what I use all the time.

I'm in the process of learning to use my new NavNet Vx2 system with C-Map as well. I get detail OK when I zoom in. The first stupid question is this, are you sure the chip is in and the system is reading it OK? Does your system give you OK's across the board when you first power up?

This is what I was told by both Navionics and C-Map two years ago: Most of the mapping is being driven by the pleasure boater, so in an attempt to please them the chart card suppliers are now offering wider geographic area and more port services on the memory cards. Something had to go, so it was bathymetric detail. In order to get the detail "back" you'll need a bathy "fishing chip".
This is the main reason I never went to VX2. With 3D, the machine is fully loaded with vector, raster, and bathymetric charts, all the detail you could ever want...Furuno bought Max-Sea so they no longer had to deal with the charting suppliers.

You should have better detail than that in your area but check and see if c-map has an update to your chip.

Well it was operator error. I do not know what 'cause one of the guys at the marina jumped on board pushed a lot of buttons for about a minute and I was good to go! it drives me crazy when the computer type "geeks" start clicking and mousing and scrolling so fast there is no way to see what they are doing. But I am working now, so, I will live with my electonic challenges.

First check to make sure you have correctly set up your plotter as indicated in your owners manual. Should you still have a problem with missing detail call the Jeppesen Marine ( C-Map ) Tech. Department at 800.424.2627x9770. It would be very helpful to provide the exact electronic chart code number you are using, (example NA-M026.03) and the LAT / LON of the discrepency.
