I wonder if anyone has any idea about how fast various gps units seem to redraw. A friend had a Northstar that seemed to be instantaneous on the redraw-nice. The demos in the stores are just that, demos. I like fast and don't want to get stuck being frustrated waiting for a slow map to pop up. Comments please.

Raymarine L760 very fast, especially with C-Map features turned off you don't need.

I was most impressed with the redraw rate on the Standard Horizon cp-1000. Markedly faster than the others

I have a Raytheon 620 Plus with the 10 inch screen and my 2 year old daughter can draw a map faster than this thing can. It's great if I'm working the same area, but if I'm on the move it takes forever.

I have a Standard CP150 and the redraw is rather fast even though I have a huge number of marks etc. There is no comparison between the Standard and a friends Garmin 168 (I think) but then again I think the Garmin is an older unit. I have a good friend who works at Boaters World and does high end electronics installs on the side. He said he is impressed with the Standard's processor speed and redraw in comparison with the big boys such as Raymarine and Furuno.

I have a garmin gpsmap 162, and I must say the redraw is relatively slow. However, I needed a cheap GPS with the Bluechart maps, which are by far the best maps out there. I got what I wanted for less than 500 bucks, great inshore/offshore depth contour and navigational detail but slow redraw.

After using it for a while, I barely notice the redraw since I dont constantly look at it.

A friend of mine has the faster and slightly larger gpsmap 182, which he paid 450$ more for. He says he'd rather have the slow redraw and $450 in his pocket.
