Default Garmin GHC 10 release date?

Does anyone have info on the release date for the Garmin GHC 10? I met the Garmin rep at a West Marine store opening and he advised waiting for it rather than going with a TR1. He thought maybe August, and the Garmin website says "third quarter", but sooner would be nice.

I went through this last year waiting for a 4212. Garmin is actually pretty good about their release dates. For the 4212 they listed a release date of 2nd quarter right from the start. Sure enough, they started shipping in June. With Garmin listing 3rd quarter for the GHP10 I would plan on seeing them in September. If they do release earlier you will be pleasantly surprised. Also, be prepared to hear all kinds of optimistic date projections from people. Plan on September. It will be worth the wait. I just got done setting up my new ride with two 4212 units, GDL30, GSD22 w 1kw tilted element Airmar, and a GMR404. I will be waiting for a GHP10 and install it over our off season.

Why do I have a feeling that the GHC 10 will be less expensive than the TR-1? I must be Garmin's fault

FYI, the correct nomenclature for the new Garmin autopilot is GHP 10.

GHC refers only to the control unit for the autopilot system. If you are going to compare it to the TR-1 you need to be looking at the GHP10 which will include all the other components like the pump and fluxgate compass. Just the GHC control unit will certainly be less than a TR-1. Not so sure about the GHP10 complete package. Sure would be nice if it is less!

I would take the TR-1 before Garmin MAKES it less expensive.. The TR-1 works great now.

You're right . I meant to write GHP 10. Wmjmarine.com has the GHP 10 corepack listed @ $1649 (of course it's not available yet). Corepack includes GHC 10, ECU, CCU, plus all cables. If I understand it correctly, all you need then is to add a "pump set" (~$950). Right?

I just like the new LCD display. I don't think they'll touch the rest of the system. As I saw in your pics of that beautiful G series install in the Jupiter 38, the pump now says Garmin on it. Did you notice any change?

I spoke with the Garmin rep at the New England Boat show back in January. At that point in time the changes were going to be the new control unit, software and cabling. The pump, compass and other components would be the same as currently used in the TR-1. No change to there. $1649 plus pump sounds like the unit will be reasonably priced. No it is just a matter of sitting back and patiently waiting for release.
