Default Garmin sonar gain setting question

I was wondering what gain setting is being used on Garmin sounders. I have an Airmar M260 transducer and am getting quite a bit of noise on my screen pics. You can spot groups of fish and can see the bottom but there is quite a bit of streaking going on throughout the screen shot. I have lowered the gain to 35% and just haven't tried lower gain settings to see if it will eliminate the noise. Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.

I have the same set up and run my gain @ 80% w/ no clutter. Maybe turn off surface clutter. Just keep pokin around, you'll find your sweet spots and it will help you become familiar with your machine.

If I turn mine up to 80% I best be in water that is 20' or more, or my sounder won't work.

4210 + m260

80%??? WOW!! That is VERY high, how deep of water are you talking?

In less than 60' of water, I have mine down below 20%. In less than 10' of water, I set it at around 5%.

By the way guys, I spke to Garmin this week, they are working on the gain and auto settings as we speak. Me thinks we will see a nice fix for this very soon.

I have a 4212 and an M260 and to get a screen clean enough to see anything that resembles a fish mark I need my Gain turned down to 2 or 3 otherwise I load up with way to much clutter to see anything but pretty colors

Can't wait to try an new HDS-10

The GSD22 sucked on my 3210 and it still sucks on my 4212
