Default Raymarine DS600X experience - opinions?

I am looking at this fishfinder that is on closeout. Anyone have experience with this unit? The use will be saltwater <300ft for bottom fishing and locating bait and structure.

Jim .....

I used the DS 500 for three years. I was very happy with the functionaliyt, clarity of the display, and performance of the unit. Mine was connected to a Airmar P66 transom transducer. I regularly fish in saltwater to depths to 1200'. I had no problems marking structure and fish at those depths. The DS 600 will bea good addition to your electronics package. Here are some pictures. I currently use a Furuno 620 that is in the same class as the DS 600.

I'm starting my 2nd season with my DS600X. The first transducer didn't work. Ray fed'xed me a new one, had it in 2 days. Since that, it has worked great. I would recommend it!

I have the 500. It is the last Ray product I will every buy 1st Ducer didn't work, replaced it. Unit fogged, had to send it back to Ray. The screen glare is horrible compared to the Garmins I have (4208 and 276c). I will say it is a good Fish Finder once you get past all of the Quality Control issues.

Ran a 600x for 2 years, never had an issue with exception of the trolling speed.
Speed took a dump after 1 month and was never accurate after that.
I had enough speed indicators elsewhere on the boat so I never bothered
to pull and send back to RAYMARINE. I still would recommend this unit, and
works best in manual mode fine tuned to each fishing application.

I've had one since 2004 with a transom mount xducer. Other than some slight fogging sometimes the unit has served me way better than I expected. For <300ft and locating bait and structure it is ideal. I would strongly recommend it.

I have had one for about two years. Continious minor fogging issues. Other than that, a pretty good unit.

I have had one for 2 years. I think it works awesome. I did have some problems with it when I installed it. Luckily, Raymarine is a half hour from my house. They fixed it in 2 days. They also told me that they fixed some gasket inside because they were having fogging issues. I run mine with a airmar tilted element in-hull transducer.
