Default transducer question

In finishing up the rebuild of my 31 bertram I noticed that someone at the boat yard cut the transducer wire about one inch above the transducer . The unit is a furuno. I noticed there is a pin on a chain on the transducer. It is a thru hull transducer. If I pull that pin out will the guts of the transducer come out such that I can replace that part and thus fix the transducer problem without pulling the boat. Although I am selling the boat, I don't want to try to soder the wires because they will go underwater from time to time and thus creat a hidden problem for the next owner(if i can ever find a buyer) I know this is a dumb question, I just have never paid any attention to that pin before. thanks
