Default Raymarine E Series "selectable Nav chart or Fish誰 Chip chart"

The new software update has a feature that Raymarine describes like this:

"Cartography: selectable Nav chart or Fish誰 Chip chart"

I can't find any info about this, even in thier new revised manual (V4.29). I have two networked E80 units. On the port side I run the Navonics Gold chip and stbd. run a Navonics Fish n' chip. Or at least I used to. Now both units read the same chip and there is a selector button to go between chips (I think is how it works). Does anyone know if I can set it up the way I used to have it with different data on each E80?

Thanks,
Todd

Called RM Tech support this morning. The new selectable feature is part of the new 4.29 software, however really won't be much of a help until the new Navonics Gold Fish N' Chip is out from Navonics. This will combine the Gold and Fish N Chip cards into one card.

In my case, I need to remove V4.29 and reinstall V3.31 so i can run each card independently on their respective plotters.

Todd,

Are you talking about the new Platinum Plus charts? I saw from the Navionics site that they are started shipping and they include the Fish N' Chip data along with the other cartography and photograpy on a single 8 Gig chip.

Does anyone have one of these yet?

marinerjoe - I just got a post card from navionics the other day verifying what you posted. The platimium plus edition will come preloaded with the fish'n'chip and much more. No more swapping chip.

A few month ago me and a few others were complaining about this and now it is addressed.

It is my understanding that with the new chip (I don't have one), that you will select from a softkey which data to use from the chip. You will manually select nav or fish. That's great for some. If you are like me and have 2 or more plotters networked, when you select fish, then all other plotters will also show fish data. No more fish on one and nav on another. As of today the only solution to this is to revert to the V3.31 software and use individual chips in the individual plotters.

Now... please... some vendor indicate you have these mystical Navionics Platinum Plus chips for my single E120 plotter. Everyone I contact says "check back... they're not shipping" or "we may be able to get a drop shipment but we're not sure". I have $500 burning a hole in my pocket and have been ready to buy for months but even my contacts with Navionics directly have been fruitless.

Platinum Plus IS shipping from MA today for the East Coast and Fl/Bahamas for Raymarine (and has been for over a week).

They just haven't ordered it yet. If they did, they would have already had product. If the do, Platinum Plus will ship within 24 hours.

By the way...

Platinum Plus absolutely ROCKS. And I am biased, but EXTREMELY hard to impress. For fishing alone, $500 is a steal.

The 3D chart renderings are now generated using the Fish N Chip data (Bathy vs. Navigation). NO COMPASRISON to Platinum. The top-downs are, by far, the best in the industry (resolution increased 4X) and cover more coast areas than any other product.

The Platinum Plus will also be shipping in SD format for Humminbird 900 and 1100 series plotters shortly.

Quite simply...it's the goodies.

I just called Jim @ BOE and he had mine (906) in stock- and on sale
I'll provide an "unbiased" opinion after I get a chance to check it out...

I seem to recall a Nav/Fish softkey on my C120 and couldn't figger out what it did. Will the same capability be coming soon for us C series users?

Thanks Jeff! Can you post a pic of the 3D offshore? I fish about 30-40 miles off Ponce Inlet FL. Since I don't cruise, the "free" Fish N Chip card is the only one I use. If the 3D rendering goes far enough offshore I might up grade. If it goes only 10 miles out then it's not for me.

Capt. Jack,

I'm not sure about the "C". I will ask around and see what I can dig up.

Sorry about the size of the images. It does not do them justice.

This one is the Platinum Chart

This one is the Platinum Plus view. It's very cool.
