Default thru hull transducer cleaning & painting

i have two thru hull transducers and was wondering when I have the boat pulled can they be cleaned and painted (bottom paint). what is the best thing to use to clean the sender portion? can you use 800 wet sandpaper? thanks

You don't need to go to a 800 grit. I use 200grit on my Airmar B-60and paint it with MDR ducer paint.

I sand very lightly...just to take off last years paint.

Yes. if you get growth(barnecles) on that, it will interfere with high speed readings.

I tape off the hull and just bush the paint on thick.

I couldn't find MDR this year, so I got the spray ducer paint from Pettit. Hope it works as well as the MDR.
