Default Garmin 2010C to 3010C

I just purchased a Pursuit 3000 Express used and its in GREAT shape. It has a Garmin 2010C installed with GPS and Sounder. Very nicely done. I want to add radar which means an upgrade to a 3010C. I dont mind the upgrade, but I am hoping I can use the all the connections that exist and just have to swap the monitor and add the dome. Can you someone guide me with the proper products and advice?

Thanks!!

The plugs are the same. Swap them out.

Last year I bought a 3010c and I sold my 2010c with all the new 3010 wiring. The 3010 just plugged right up and worked fine with my old 2010c wiring including to my sounder box - GSD20

Excellent. So I will just buy the 3010C, sell the 2010C and add the Radar......

Are you guys using this Garmin Unit in Salt or Fresh water? I am looking into purchasing a combo unit (FF, RADAR, GPS) to upgrade from my current units. I purchased my boat and it came with a Lowrance unit that works ok. I have a handheld Garmin GPSmap 270 that I love using and want to see about getting a Garmin unit. The trouble that I am having is getting enough feedback from Garmin user about how it performs in deep saltwater conditions.

I mostly use mine in the Chesapeake (brackish water) but use it offshore too with no issue. I think Garmin has gone more after the saltwater market than the fresh. Power of transducer probably makes more of a difference

Couple questions:

1. Why the 3010? Why not the 3210?
2. Have you looked at the 40xx series?
3. The 2010 probably has a GSD20 paired to it. The new GSD22 is generally better regarded. Is depth/fish finding important to you?

I bought a boat back in September 07. I upgraded the 2010 to 4212 and am very pleased with it. I sold the 2010 here in less than a day.

For the price of upgrading to a 3010 and then adding Garmin's Radar you would be better served buying a stand-alone radar unit. A Furuno or Raymarine radar would be my choice over a Garmin.

I dont want to add another device to the helm area and like the fact that I can integrate the sounder, gps and radar in one unit. I do have some space, but it would really clutter the helm.
