Default Pioneer TS-MR2040 8" Marine speakers

Did a search not a whole lot of info on these speakers. Opinions of these speakers from those who have heard them or have them installed would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Got 4 in my Southport hooked up to a CMD-5. Sounds great to me.

I have them and they are money well spent.

etronics.com has the best price that I've seen so far, I received mine in 3 days after I ordered.

Thanks guys I ordered today from etronics so they should be here in a couple of days. On last question, how much better are these 8" coax pioneers than the 6.5 coax clarions that I have now, will I notice a big difference?

you will notice a big diff in that the pioneers will last and the clarions will go junk sooner than later...do a search for clarion speakers and see...

I have both in my setup, clarions in are the "front" pioneers are the "rear". You will notice a the highs of the clarion are cleaner than the pioneer but the mid range and bass of the pioneer are superior to the clarions. I have the clarion seperates so I didnt want to have holes left otherwise I would have went with 4 pioneer.

My sony 900ip head unit is awsome as well I had a clarion head unit that was ruined when the boat went down. the sony is far superior in ease of use, dispay, sound but power is the same 52w x4.

Does anyone know how these may compare to the JL Audio 7.5"'s?

Pioneers at Etronics are $95 pair,

200 Watts maximum power handling (40 Watts RMS)
Frequency Response 25Hz-30kHz
Sensitivity 92dB
4 Ohms

JL Audio at Consumers Marine $399 pair
Continuous Power Handling: 100W
Recommended Amp Power: 40 - 175 Watts
System Efficiency: 91.0 dB @ 1W/1m
System Nominal Impedance: 4 ohm
System Frequency Response: 45 Hz - 25 KHz ± 3 dB*

$200 for 4 vs. $800 for 4

$600 left over for head unit and good amp.

No Brainer to me.

Pyle 400 wat x 4Channels mosfet runs the four main cockpit speakers plus a 400watt mono block ruuning a 10' visonik sub underneath behind thr refrig plus 2 clarion 6.5 up front in the cuddy. If you have "sensitive" ears you might not want to be on my boat. VERY LOUD WHER i COME FROM. sERIOUSLY

I run mine off the built in amp, works but I'm sure an amp would make them sound even better.

about the best value in the market is a refurbished Clarion 4ch amp off ebay for about 130 dollars - and yes they carry a warranty - I've installed about 10 of them for friends and they work great - see if you can find a company called "bass sales" on ebay - they stand behind their stuff...
